Counting One's Blessings
In this season of challenges, there's a profound wisdom in pausing to acknowledge the bright spots that illuminate our path. While many in our community face difficult times, there remain countless reasons for gratitude that deserve recognition and celebration.
A Cherished Return
Our community recently welcomed back a dear friend, James, after his extended period of convalescence following a medical emergency late last year. His return reminds us of what truly matters: the gift of life, resilience, and the power of support systems that carry us through dark times.
James's recovery journey highlights the incredible strength found in family bonds, community connections, our church fellowship, school support networks, and the dedicated professionals of the NHS. These pillars held firm when they were needed most, demonstrating that even in crisis, we are never truly alone.
As James rejoins our community activities, his presence serves as a living reminder of hope and perseverance. His journey teaches us that while we cannot control all circumstances, we can celebrate each step forward with grateful hearts.
Milestone Celebrations
Another blessing we're celebrating is the upcoming 13th birthday of our daughter Clara – known affectionately to many as "Boo" from Barnaby & Boo's. Her entrance into teenage years follows closely behind the anniversary of Tried & True (see the cute photo of Clara below in very early T&T days!), marking a season of growth and new beginnings all around us.
Clara's milestone birthday invites reflection on the profound blessing of children in our lives. These young people bring unfiltered joy, honest perspectives, and endless opportunities for growth – both theirs and ours. Their curiosity and energy remind us to see the world with fresh eyes daily.

Community Roots Run Deep
The African proverb that "it takes a village to raise a child" resonates deeply in our community. As parents, grandparents, mentors, and friends, we witness the beautiful tapestry of influence that shapes our children's development. Every teacher who stays late, every neighbor who checks in, every grandparent who shares stories – they all weave threads of strength and wisdom into our next generation.
Our gratitude extends to all who contribute to this nurturing environment. The shopkeepers who learn our children's names, the crossing guards who ensure their safety, the librarians who feed their curiosity – each plays an irreplaceable role in forming our community's future.
Finding Light in Challenging Times
Acknowledging blessings doesn't mean ignoring difficulties. Rather, it's about maintaining perspective and recognizing that challenges and gratitude can coexist. When we count our blessings – health recoveries, birthday celebrations, community connections – we train ourselves to spot goodness even when it's partially obscured by hardship.
This practice of gratitude serves as both anchor and compass. It grounds us in what remains good while pointing us toward hope for tomorrow. In celebrating James's return and Clara's birthday, we're not just marking calendar events – we're affirming life's continuing goodness despite its unpredictability.
As we move forward together as a community, let's continue sharing these moments of thanksgiving. They remind us that even in difficult seasons, blessings abound when we have eyes to see them.
