As London basked in the weekend's unexpected gift of blue skies, our café has been alive with the energy of people venturing out once more. The streets are bustling again, trees showing first signs of spring's promise with tender buds appearing.
In times when the wider world feels increasingly difficult to comprehend, there's profound comfort in our personal connections. This weekend brought the joy of celebrating Clara's 13th birthday, surrounded by friends and laughter. Thanks to everyone who shared best wishes.
These simple pleasures—sunshine, community, celebration—remind us of what truly matters.
Wishing you all a wonderful week ahead. I'm personally looking forward to the amazing Dubai Chocolate pancakes created by chef Felipe. Enjoy pancake fortnight at T&T!
See you soon!

Did You Know? Shrove Tuesday Edition

Shrove Tuesday, also known as Pancake Day, is more than just an excuse to indulge in delicious pancakes - it’s a tradition with a rich history!
📖 Why "Shrove" Tuesday?
The name comes from the old English word “shrive,”meaning to confess sins and seek forgiveness. It was a day of reflection before Lent, a period of fasting leading up to Easter.
🥞 Why Pancakes?
In the past, people would use up rich ingredients like eggs, milk, and butter before Lent. Pancakes were the perfect way to avoid waste while enjoying a final feast!
🌍 How Do Other Countries Celebrate?
In France, it’s called Mardi Gras, meaning "Fat Tuesday," a day of indulgence before fasting.
In New Zealand, some communities, especially in cities like Auckland and Wellington, hold Mardi Gras-style events around the same time as Shrove Tuesday, with music, costumes, and parties.
In Sweden, people enjoy semlor, a cream-filled cardamom bun.
In Brazil, it’s part of the famous Carnival celebrations!
🏃 Pancake Races?A quirky English tradition, dating back to 1445, involves people racing while flipping pancakes in frying pans! The most famous race takes place in Olney, England.
So, whether you're flipping, racing, or just eating - Happy Pancake Day! 🥞✨
